Lap dogs, big dogs, small dogs, hunters. Cats who think they are dogs.

The small dog thinks it's a big dog, a huntress. She kills possums and woodchucks, swallows mice whole, like they are gummy bears.  A big dog thinks she is a lap dog. She thinks she weights 7 pounds, not 77.  Another dog is just your run of the mill dog, happy to please or to leave you alone if you are done with him.  The cat, well he thinks he is a dog.

A quote about dogs: “No matter how close we are to another person, few human relationships are as free from strife, disagreement, and frustration as is the relationship you have with a good dog. Few human beings give of themselves to another as a dog gives of itself. I also suspect that we cherish dogs because their unblemished souls make us wish - consciously or unconsciously - that we were as innocent as they are, and make us yearn for a place where innocence is universal and where the meanness, the betrayals, and the cruelties of this world are unknown." --Dean Koontz

A quote about cats:  “When I am feeling low all I have to do is watch my cats and my courage returns." --Charles Bukowski

Faces

Faces tell stories.  Your face. My face.  Old faces and young faces; black and white faces. Faces have smiles, they show happiness and joy, love and contentment.  Grief can also be beautiful.  Sorrow, sadness, despair…. Faces tell stories. Sometimes the story is so painful, but needs to be told.  If one can look beyond the face, beyond the smile and truly look. What will one see? What story will one find?
